International Sports Specialists, Inc.
"Bringing the world to you."

International Sports Specialists, Inc. (ISSI) was founded in February 1989 through the dreams of New Zealander George O'Scanlon. As a youth George fell in love with athletics, especially American football (gridiron). His desire over the years has been to promote gridiron to the people of New Zealand and Australia.

Our U.S. athletes have had many wonderful experiences with the Australians and New Zealanders as a result of ISSI?s dedication and commitment to the program. The success of the Down Under Bowl has been a springboard for ISSI's most recent involvement in the Down Under Hoops Classic.

The year 2004 saw the continued expansion of the Down Under Bowl and the Hoops Classic, and also the Down Under International Games. ISSI will be hosting the "Games", which provide a forum for athletes from many countries to compete in sports they love. The 2004 Down Under International Games included competition in volleyball, golf, cross-country, soccer, swimmng, track & field and free-style wrestling. ISSI's goal is to continually provide athletes who excel in their sport the opportunity to experience the culture, beauty and grandeur of the land Down Under through spirited and intense competition in a variety of sports.

Over the past 16 years ISSI has had the opportunity to share the land Down Under with tens of thousands of individuals from across the United States. ISSI wants to use the common language of sports to bridge continents. This common goal has remained steadfast through its beginnings in 1989, when only four states participated, until now, when an all-star team from all 50 states have participated.

Each athlete must have a coach?s nomination from his/her state or be on a pre- or post- season honors list to be eligible to participate in the Down Under Sports Tours. Some prior standouts of the Down Under Bowl include Jake "The Snake" Plummer, quarterback for the Denver Broncos, and Ahman Green, Running Back for the Green Bay Packers. Many of the top universities also have Down Under Bowl Alumni.
