Directions & Parking
UCLA is located North of LAX and just South of the 101 & 405 interchange. From the 405, exit at Sunset Blvd. East. Travel about 1.5 miles and you will see the fields on your right. You may park immediately below the fields in PS-4. It is $8.00 to park for the whole day.
A campus map can be found at the following link: http://www.ucla.edu/map/map.html
Changing Rooms & Washrooms
All teams will be able to shower and change in the John Wooden Center. We ask that players remove their cleats before entering the building and change in the men’s changing room, not out in the hallway or on the field. Athletes, staff and fans may use the washroom facilities in the Student Activities Center, directly east of the JWC. Please advise your athletes to refrain from using the fields as public urinals.
Tournament Draw
The draw is relatively random with the goal of assisting teams to get ready for their regular competitions. There will be no points awarded or tournament champion this year as there will not be enough time to allow teams to compete on that basis and watch the college rugby in such a short period. Next season, we will look at a Championship format and consider inviting additional teams. Our goal is to ensure every player enjoys their experience, has an opportunity to watch some quality College and enjoy the atmosphere at UCLA.
Official Welcome
The UCLA Recreation Department wishes to briefly welcome all of the teams, coaches and supporters to UCLA at 11:30am on Saturday January 20. This will occur on Field A and will take only a few minutes so that play is not disrupted dramatically.
Captains Photo
At the time of the official welcome, an official group photo of all team captains will be taken in their playing kit. Please keep one set of playing kit clean for this photograph.
All Pac-10 Tournament Team
At the end of the final match, tournament officials including referees and other coaches will nominate an “All Pac-10 Tournament Team” to take place in front of the stands on Field A. The same will be announced for players competing in the Youth Division.
Refreshments
There will be a hospitality area with BBQ soft drinks and other snacks located on field A. Please purchase tickets at the ticket counter located at the North end of field A.
Reception
There will be a reception for alumni, special guests and officials immediately after the conclusion of day 1 competition. We request that at least one official from each Pac-10 team attend and encourage all teams to invite their alumni. Tickets will be provided for team officials. As there will be beer and wine served here players will not be allowed to attend. There will be additional passes available for purchase at the main scorer’s table. Youth team officials are invited as well, please RSVP to me via e-mail.
Athletic Trainers
There will be AT’s assigned to the entire event available for your use. Please note that each team will be responsible for supplying their materials. Additionally, there will be match day doctors and physiotherapists on site to deal with more serious matters.
Kickoff Times & Coin Tosses
In order to maintain the schedule, we request that the coin toss and referees’ meeting with captains and front rows be held outside of the scorer’s tent during the Halftime Break of the preceding game. This will allow both teams adequate time to loosen up and be ready to kickoff on time.
Match Length
All youth matches will be 2x20min halves with a 5 min break at half-time.
Score Reporting
Please have a team representative confirm the correct score and number of tries scored with the referee at the conclusion of your match. A score-sheet will be provided to the scorer’s tent where all relevant game data will be maintained. Upon signing off with the referee on a score-sheet, the results will be final!
Substitutions
There will be unlimited substitutions for any particular match. A team list is not required in advance of any game. We hope this will facilitate the opportunity to try different player combinations throughout the course of the Tournament and allow everyone a good run that has made the trip. As a courtesy to the officials, please have all substitutes report to the referee or touch judge (if available) before coming into any game.
CIPP Registration and UCLA Waivers
Each participating team must provide confirmation of CIPP registration both as a team and as individual players. Each individual must also complete and sign the attached waiver form or have their parent/guardian complete and sign on their behalf. There cannot be any exceptions to these requirements.
Tournament Program
Please complete the attached form with your roster and send along a quality team picture as well no later than January 5th, 2007.
Final Note
We appreciate everyone participating in this unique event and I am grateful to everyone who has helped with ideas and input along the way. We hope that this tournament will continue to grow, bring positive notoriety to Rugby in this region and become one of the premier sporting events on the annual calendar for the students, fans and administrators alike.
